We’re a New Zealand-owned business, based in Hawke’s Bay, making fibreglass plunge pools, sold as kitsets so you can get a proper pool in the ground without paying for a full pool-company install.
Every pool is made to order in a workshop set up specifically for fibreglass pool production, and it’s checked through each stage before it’s signed off for a customer.

Built properly, from the start
Our pool builder has more than 20 years’ experience, and we use quality materials applied in a controlled workshop, with records and checks at each stage. A pool’s a big investment — we want yours looking good for years to come, same as you do.
It starts with the mould
A smooth, glossy pool starts with a flawless mould. Ours are kept blemish-free and prepped carefully before the gelcoat goes on — and once they’re ready, nobody walks on them, so there’s no risk of marks or contamination ending up in your finish.
Colours – Aquaguard® Shimmer
Our colours use Aquaguard® Shimmer gelcoats: a hard-wearing, reflective finish with a subtle sparkle, made to stand up to the weather and resist fading. Because of the shimmer, colours can look a little different on screen than in real life.
Epoxy vinyl ester resin
The first layer behind the gelcoat is a vinyl ester resin. It’s stronger and more water-resistant than standard resin, which helps stop water getting into the gelcoat (known in the industry as osmosis). It’s left to fully cure before the next layer goes on.
Water barrier
The outside of the pool gets the same protection. Instead of the tinted polyester resin some makers use, we apply a specially formulated barrier coating, so moisture from the ground is kept out too.
The gelcoat finish
The gelcoat is the surface you see and swim against. We use Aquaguard® gelcoats from a specialist pool-industry supplier, chosen for their colour, shine and durability outdoors.
FAQs
A fibreglass swimming pool is nonporous, which makes it low-maintenance. This feature helps prevent algae growth and reduces the need for sanitising chemicals. Additionally, the surface does not leach into the water, meaning fewer balancing chemicals are needed to maintain the pool.
Absolutely — salt water is a great way to look after your fibreglass pool.
No. Southern Plunge Pools supplies kitset pools only. You can install your pool yourself or engage your own builder or contractor. Installation must follow NZS 1839:2025 (the New Zealand standard for installing fibreglass pools), the Building Code and your council’s requirements. See our Kitset Terms of Sale.

Yes, you can heat a fibreglass pool just like any other type of pool. We supply a 9kW heat pump as a standard add-on, and can also help source solar, electric or gas heating options on request — just ask us for a custom quote.
Keep in mind that the right heating system depends on your pool’s size and your local climate.
Consent requirements vary depending on your council and your site, so please check with your local council before you install. You are responsible for obtaining any consents your installation needs, including consent for the pool fence or barrier. See our Kitset Terms of Sale.
Every Southern Plunge Pool shell is backed by a 25-year structural warranty, giving you long-term confidence in your investment. This covers the structural integrity of the pool shell itself. The gelcoat surface is covered for 1 year, provided the water is cared for as set out in our terms. Fittings and equipment (such as pumps and filters) are covered by their manufacturers’ warranties, and installation workmanship is not covered, so make sure your pool is installed to NZS 1839:2025. Once you accept your quote, we ask for a 50% deposit to secure your build slot and begin manufacturing your pool. While your pool is being crafted, we’ll keep you updated and help you plan delivery access. The remaining 50% balance is due prior to your pool arriving onsite. Your kitset pool is then delivered to your site, ready for you or your own builder or contractor to install, along with information on how to care for and enjoy your new Southern Plunge Pool.
